Frequently Asked Questions

Your tires should be rotated every other oil change, or every 6000 miles on most vehicles. Neglecting to rotate tires is a major cause of premature tire wear.

YES. The failure of a timing belt in many cars can result in major engine damage. The cost of repairing the engine damage from a broken timing belt is much higher than the cost of replacing the timing belt.

There are many sensors and computerized components that manage your vehicle’s engine performance and emissions. When one of these fails, the “check engine” light is illuminated. Although your car may seem to run fine, the light indicates that something internally is NOT working properly, it is important to have the issue addressed to prevent bigger problems which occur if ignored.

This is a very serious problem – if your car overheats for too long, you can damage your engine. As soon as possible, find a safe place to pull off the road and shut the engine off! Do not attempt to check the fluid level in the radiator; the hot fluid can cause severe burns. The best thing to do is have your car towed to Automotive Excellence.

You should get your oil changed every 3000 miles or as recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual. This could vary from vehicle to vehicle and based on driving conditions.

Milky brown engine oil is an indication of coolant in the oil. This can be caused by a blown head gasket (or other gasket), a failed transmission cooler, or cracked casings. This condition is very serious and needs to be checked by a professional technician immediately.

Battery cables and terminals should be cleaned and inspected periodically to make sure they provide a good electrical connection. It is a good idea to have your battery tested once it is 3 years old.

Synthetic motor oils can be a good choice for high output, turbocharged or supercharged engines. Or for vehicles that are used for towing (especially during hot weather), and vehicles that operate in extremely cold or hot climates. Although more expensive than mineral-based oils, synthetic motor oils can improve fuel economy and provide longer intervals between changes. Always refer to your owner’s manual.

To help ensure dependable, trouble-free performance, replace your car’s fuel filter approximately every 30,000 miles or as recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

Always replace burned-out fuses with ones of the same amperage (printed on the fuse) and note that if a fuse continues to “blow,” you should have the circuit checked professionally by one of our technicians for defects.

My go-to auto repair shop! They were so accommodating and always detailed with their work. Being a woman with little to no car knowledge can sometimes make the auto shop experience a bit intimidating and sketchy but this place has been completely honest and authentic with what they do and why they do it. I love this place and will continue to go to them for any issues!

Alex was a true professional. He and the guys at the shop built a custom exhaust exactly as requested. I had a punch list after a recent rebuild of engine and front suspension and the attention to detail was even greater than my own. I can’t say enough good things about this shop, so don’t hesitate to trust them with your mechanical needs!

The best mechanic in Southern California. I’ve been going here for muffler work for the past 10 years, and their communication, quality of work and speed have been nothing less than extraordinary. I’m so glad they’ve expanded into a full service shop, and will only bring my trucks here. Old school in the best way possible, they care about their work, their reputation, and keeping the community safe. They even send Xmas cards! A class act.

We were referred to Alex and his Dad 16 years ago, and we are glad to have been ref. They are professional, reliable and they know vehicles. Our Toyota and Explorer continue to give us no issues. From vintage to today’s computer laden vehicles.

Alex and Evi are a father-and-son shop and they offer the best auto repair shop in Huntington Beach! They keep my car running well while providing a more affordable service option than the local dealership. I've had them change out my brakes and suspension as well as put on a muffler. They also kept me updated and explained the repair services so I had a better understanding of what was required. They are auto repair experts and I trust them to tell me what needs to be done and what will need to be done in the future. The shop is clean and their mechanics are always hard at work in the back ( I see them as I walk into the shop). I continue to come back year after year and refer friends and neighbors. Also, from time to time they send me discounts and offers. Loved the Thanksgiving card that they sent out. They give off that family values and it shows.
